Ever wanted to indulge on “Taco Tuesday” but didn’t want to consume all those calories?! This recipe is the perfect solution! The best part about this recipe is it is extremely easy to make. (I rarely spend a long time making any of my recipes but this one is especially simple.)
What you need:
1lb Ground Turkey
Taco Seasoning: Homemade* or 1/2-1 store bought package
1 head of Lettuce
Cilantro
+Add ons of choice! These are my favorites.. Avocado, lime, salsa, grilled peppers and onions
**If you choose to make homemade taco seasoning all you do is throw together equal parts chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, onion powder, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper.** This cuts down on sodium and any added chemicals!
Now what..?
Spray pan with nonstick spay and heat ground turkey until it is fully cooked
Add in your seasonings to meat (and veggies too)
Chop head of lettuce in half and pull apart to make lettuce cups
Add in turkey meat, cilantro, and anything else you love on tacos into lettuce cups. Squeeze some lime over the top and that’s it!
What’s also great about this recipe is it makes for a great taco salad the next day! That is almost always how I end up using my leftovers… 😉 ENJOY!
Side note…
I am not opposed to eating red meat or meat in general. Although I choose to not eat meat every day, I do think that substituting chicken instead of beef when possible in recipes is a good idea if you are looking to slim down. I use ground turkey meat in a lot of my recipes. For my body, meat is not always a necessity. There are days when I have eaten it that it makes me feel sluggish and bloated but there are also days, mostly ones that I am more active, that meat is not an issue and I actually crave it. Some people are different, but that is just how I have leaned my body functions. On the days I am feeling like I need a protein fix I love to make my “Turkey Tacos.” I encourage you to experiment with what your body needs and does not need. If you are experiencing stomach issues or are just not feeling as great as you know you can, limiting red meat or just meat in general might be something to try! But maybe after you indulge in these awesome turkey tacos 😉
